I'm The One That I Want by Margaret Cho. I was so disappointed that I couldn't make the book fair at UCLA last weekend with my friend Tracey, so she thought to buy the book for me. I missed the one-woman show when I lived in New York, but Tracey and I went to see the film last fall in Santa Monica. If you want to know how much my friends rock, Tracey even had it autographed:
Erica Good luck in New York! -Margaret Cho . . . I'm also still reading Simple Indulgence: Easy, Everyday Things to Do for Me by Janet Eastman. I'm such a dork, I keep reading the quotes and ideas, but not doing the journalling portion.

Stuck in my head: "Boogie-oogie-oogie get down."
Thank you, Disco Stu! (My favorite Simpsons sight gag-cum-character.)
I heard Britney Spears' "Bottom of My Broken Heart" while making a selection from the feminine hygeine aisle at Wal Mart and exclaimed, "Fucking Britney Spears...Gah!"
That's one of the videos I had to watch about a million times to select snippets for the web site and the enhanced CD single. Ever hearing it again is too much, too soon.

The Simpsons, The Sopranos & Armistead Maupin's Further Tales of the City. I didn't even realize there were making another one, I just happened to see it listed. I'm going to have to finish the book series now, as I think I've only read through the fourth book and this mini-series is based on the third book.

While you're visiting the Gallery of Regrettable Food, don't miss Meat!. This one in particular made me laugh until I couldn't breathe. "Sometimes meat likes to dress up and feel pretty."
Swanson Parade of Lost Identity -- women who, in probably their only 15 minutes of fame, were for the most part known only as Mrs. HisLastName.

Co-Author of The Rules to divorce! So you can't manipulate a man into marrying and staying married to you? Perhaps you have to come into it as two individuals and show who you really are from the beginning? I guess this means that no amount of growing your hair long, pretending not to be smart or funny, and "training" a man will make for a happy marriage.

Another Elvis dream (I'm doing the Memphis section of my color scrapbook now, but I haven't got to Graceland yet), this one cannibalistic.
What started out as an autopsy to discover THE TRUTH, turned into Elvis Stew. It was rich and beefy. Ewwwwwwwww!

Why is it that the same personality quirks are taken as crazy and stalky by some, while loveably wacky by others? Is there some litmus test for this, so I stop wasting my time?

in a sleep-drenched coma. I don't know what's come over me. I'm not especially depressed, so maybe it's the heat. I went to bed at 9:30 last night, after fighting off sleep for 45 minutes! That is so wrong. Of course, I woke up at 1, checked my email, watched some bad old Shirley MacLaine movie and then Northern Exposure. Right now A&E is in the last season or so, the episodes I missed for whatever reason. I want to say it's because they started moving it all over the schedule again, but it seems like they stopped doing that once it got popular, so maybe I'd just lost interest. That or I have dozens of episodes on the zillions of video tapes I never watched that are in my storage space in SF. ... At any rate, I just have no idea what's wrong with me. I have projects to start (redesigning Some Crazy Dame, finishing filling in the new designs for Erica Jackson and I'mErica Online, learning Flash, etc) and others to complete (the online and offline photo albums of my trip, for one). I told my mom that I wanted to work on the albums last weekend, but I've done zip. She took out all of her Creative Memories stuff last Thursday and has been cranking out pages ever since.
The past two nights she's worked on their trip to NY to visit me at Christmas. It was the first Christmas without Dad, so my mom thought it might be a good idea not to be at home. I planned so much for them to do and thought they'd be in bed by 9, so I could go hang out with Fil. Instead, we were up and often out and about until 1 or 2 a.m. every night. Here I thought I was a sophisticated, stay up late New Yorker and was bound to tuck in my suburban relatives early and party on into the night myself, but nooooooo! I needed extra rest after they were gone.

not sure why it's been nearly a week since I last posted. Maybe I'm feeling a bit more intropective lately. I've also been a little more overwhelmed with everyday things: cooking dinner, shopping, helping my brother with his homework and all that good stuff.
Then there's the whole getting Britney Spears tickets and passes drama/trauma. That took so much time and effort and I found it really dispiriting. I can't help but think mother nature has a hilariously cruel sense of humor, giving me a brilliant, beautiful brother who really loves Britney. ... Hope to write more tonight. Just want you to know I'm not dead.

out of energy. I don't know why. I went to bed a couple of hours early last night and woke up at 9 am. Great, I thought, I can finally run some of those errands I've wanted to get to. By the time I did a few things around the house, I found myself nodding off in my chair. Slept again from 11 to 2 and nearly fell asleep during Big Brother. I'm ashamed to admit I'm addicted to these "reality" TV shows. I watched American High and then watched BB and Survivor simultaneously (the Denver feed of the latter, regular L.A. broadcast of the former.
What was really silly was how they kept the "Live" graphic on the screen at all times. I'm sorry to break it to you, but almost nothing is live anymore, let alone on the West Coast. Back when we first had the dish installed, there were truly wild feeds. Some of my favorite things were the roving cameras during MTV's spring break weeks, news anchors fluffing their hair and complaining during commercial breaks and oddities like Bruce Willis swigging beer (foam mustache and all) during outtakes of a public service announcement. Also notable were the East Coast feeds of awards shows. I got to see all the good parts that my friends here on the West Coast didn't. One thing I liked to do was watch Jeopardy on the East Coast feed and surprise my friends with my superior knowledge of trivia.

not at all impressed with the mother who took her daughter(s) and several friends to the Britney Spears concert at the Forum on Monday. Not only were they dressed like teenage crack hoes (tank tops that spelled out "BR-I-T-N-EY" and tight 'n' tiny leather shorts), but they were completely out of control.
I don't expect teenagers to sit around with their hands in their laps, but their safety was seriously at stake. First, as we were pulling out of the parking lot, she had them stand in front of our car, so my mother couldn't proceed and so that she could get her big ass SUV out of the parking space. Then, she let them get out and stand on the running boards as she drove and while hundreds of cars cut each other off and zoomed in and out of the line to get out of the parking lot. I'm only sorry that she didn't have license plates yet, because I would've reported her poor parenting ass to the DMV. Too bad those other girls' mothers don't know what chances she took with their lives.

not sure where the link to my Amazon wish list went, but damnit, time is running out before my birthday, so I'm moving the shameless plug to the top of the sidebar, at right.
